About a week ago I kept seeing these planner stickers for something called the 21 Day Fix and I saw that a lot of people were purchasing them. I ignored it for a few days, but I kept seeing them and curiosity got the best of me. Off to Google I went to find out what the heck this was. I immediately became obsessed with the idea of doing this and needing it NOW.
Basically, it’s a fitness program that comes with two DVD’s full of exercises and it tells you exactly which ones to do on what days. It also comes with portion control containers so that you can portion out all of your meals. You will do some calculations and that will tell you how many of each container you can have daily.
I bought the 21 Day Fix Extreme here because it was cheaper and I previously had a bad experience with a Beachbody coach. Plus I wanted to get it in two days! If you don’t have Amazon Prime, you can sign up for a free trial here and get free 2 day shipping when you order it. If you have a coach, of course, you can order it through them and hopefully have their support throughout the program.
Although this is my first time doing the 21 Day Fix, I decided to go straight to the extreme version. I just felt like it was the better option because I want the best results possible and I do not want to have to spend the money on a second program once I complete the regular version. And, really, it’s not THAT bad (and I’m saying this while I’m completely out of shape).
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a walk in the park. But I managed to get through the entire 30-35 minutes of each workout. I was sweating like a pig each time, but that’s a good thing! I’m not doing the “extreme” version of the food though, I’ll probably try that if I do a second round. I’m still adjusting to the whole measuring my meals out thing, so I didn’t want the added stress of the extreme meal plan. It is also taking me a little more time than usual to meal plan because I need to figure out what I can make for both myself and my husband that is 21 Day approved and still tasty. My husband isn’t doing the program, but I refuse to cook multiple meals every day!
When I did the calculations, I’m at about 1400 calories per day. Here are the amounts you can eat depending on your calorie bracket:
Green = Veggies
Purple = Fruit
Yellow = Starches + Carbs
Red = Protein
Orange = Dressings + Seeds
Blue = Cheese, Nuts, Healthy Fats
Day 1 was 32 minutes of PLYO FIX Extreme… and oh my God was it hard!! I thought I was going to die by the time I was 10 minutes in! But I pushed through and completed it. I was so incredibly sore for 3 days! But I burned 301 calories in 32 minutes! That is amazing guys! It used to take me an hour to burn 300 calories, and that was on a good day. I’m so glad that the program started with PLYO because it showed me that I could push through an entire, seriously extreme workout. Also, seeing how much I burned in such a short period really motivated me to continue the program.
(I use this Polar watch to monitor my calories. I love this thing. You can also read more about how I track my fitness here.)These were my meals on Day 1:
-Breakfast: Stuffed pepper – 1 green, 1 red, 1 blue
-Snack: Grapes – 1 purple
-Lunch: Pot Roast with veggies – 1 red, 1 green
-Snack: Grapes – 1 purple
-Dinner: Chicken Primavera – 2 green, 2 red, 1 yellow
