Track Your Fitness Journey
This is key! The only way to know if you’re progressing or if something needs to change is if you are documenting it.By keeping track of what you are eating, what kind of exercises you are doing, how much water you are drinking, etc, you will always have something to look back at to see where there is room for improvement, what needs to change and what can remain the same.
If you’re not keeping track of these things, you’re never going to have a clear idea of what can be stopping you from hitting your fitness goals.
I go in depth about fitness tracking in this video:
-
Find a Way to Enjoy Exercise
Enjoy exercise? Crazy, right?! Well, not really.
Exercise comes in so many different forms and it’s definitely not one size fits all. Try different types of exercises out until you find what you really love. You may love running or you may hate it, same with weights. But those aren’t your only options!
There are dance classes like Zumba, cycling, bootcamps, HIIT, barre, hiking, swimming… and the list goes on forever. So just try out different things and figure out what you actually enjoy so that you can look forward to your workout instead of dreading it.
-
Constantly Set Goals and Plan for Them
If you don’t have goals, you just don’t have something to aim for. But, realistically, we are good at setting goals. Where we fail is to plan the action steps to reach those goals.
It’s great to want to lose 20lbs, but it’s more important to have a game plan to make it happen. If you’re just running and lifting random weights, hoping for the best, you’re going to end up frustrated and giving up.
So when you set your goals, also write down the action steps you’re going to take to hit them. And make sure you track any new habits you have decided to take on.

Don’t Skip Breakfast
Regularly eating breakfast can help you lose weight, improve your mood, and even help ward off disease. Breakfast is literally meant to break the fast from all of the hours you just spent sleeping. Don’t skip it.
If you don’t replenish your glucose stores in the morning, it’ll leave you feeling overly hungry, cranky, and fatigued… aka hangry.
Also, an early meal can boost your metabolism and encourage your body to burn more calories throughout the day. When you fast for too long, your body goes into protection mode, and begins to store as many calories as possible.
-
Drink Lots of Water
You know water is important. You literally need it to survive. So just drink it. Lots of it. Half of your body weight in ounces… every day.

Schedule Workouts in Advance
It’s much easier to get you workout in when you know exactly what you’re going to be doing. One of the most frustrating things is to get to a gym or wherever you workout and realize you don’t have a plan and have no clue what you’re going to do. Then you just start guessing and doing whatever… not leading to the results you want.
Plan your exercises in advance to save yourself that frustration and wasted time!
