The Best Skewers for Making Shish Kebab Recipes
There are a ton of options when it comes to skewers, but most kebab shops use bamboo skewers. Bamboo skewers, though, require you to soak them for 30 minutes before using them.
I personally use flat metal skewers because you can wash them in the dishwasher and reuse them. Also, they do not require any prep work.

Yes! They only have 6g net carbs per serving so these lamb shish kebabs can fit a low carb diet like the ketogenic diet.

Grilled Lamb Shish Kebab Recipe
Ingredients for juicy lamb shish kebabs
- 8 wooden skewers or flat metal skewers
- 2 lbs Ground lamb
- 1 large white Onion, diced or 1/4 cup red onion
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp dill
- 1 tsp ground Cumin
- 1 1/2 tsp Sea salt
- 1/4 tsp Black pepper
Grilled Lamb Shish Kebab Directions
This is a very easy recipe with simple steps.
- In a large bowl, stir together all of the ingredients except the lamb.
- Add the lamb to the mixture and mix until everything is well combined.
- Divide the meat into either 8 or 16 pieces of meat / lamb cubes, depending on if you want one large piece on your lamb kabobs or two smaller pieces of lamb meat on your lamb skewers. For the best results, I recommend dividing them in to two sections.
- Mold each section of meat around a skewer. If you want two pieces, separate them 1-2 inches apart.
- Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and oil the grill grate lightly (you can also use a grill pan on your stovetop or an indoor grill). Place the skewers on the hot grill and cook for 3 minutes. Flip and cook for 3-5 more minutes.
- You can eat them just like this, or you can serve with a side of tzatziki sauce.
Optional: You can also add grilled vegetables to the skewers (red or orange bell peppers, green peppers, cherry tomatoes, etc).
Optional: Squeeze some fresh lemon juice over the lamb pieces.
